Our Story
Maria and Theodore, our inspiration.
1986: Lotos Beach Home, Kini, Syros
In 1986, Maria and Theodore, two Greek newlyweds, visited the island of Syros for the first time. They immediately fell in love with the breathtaking sea view of Lotos bay and decided to build a house with the intention of hosting family, friends and guests alike. Theodore Giannakopoulos, a trained architect, designed and constructed the house from the ground up. The result was an elegant Cycladic summer house comprised of six independent units on three separate levels. Lotos Beach Home’s foundations were laid in 1989 and its construction was completed in 1995. Ever since their first visit in 1986, Maria and Theodore have been returning to Syros every summer.
2016: LOTOS Properties
Inspired by Lotos Beach Home’s history, LOTOS Properties launched in 2016 and in the summer of the same year welcomed its first guests, Jimmy & Jacomina from Netherlands. Since then, more than 100 travelers have stayed in our homes. Here is how some of them describe their experiences:

2018: Phalerum Home, Palaio Faliro, Athens
In 2018, we opened Phalerum Home, a modern flat on the third floor of an apartment building in Athens. Located within a five-minute walk from the Athenian Riviera and a fifteen-minute drive from the city center, it is an ideal place for travelers who want to explore both the urban and the beach life that the Greek capital has to offer.
2020: Andritsaina Home, Elis, Peloponnese
In 2020, we opened the Andritsaina Home, a traditional 19th century stone-house in Elis, Peloponnese, situated in close proximity to the ancient Greek temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1979, Mr. Giannakopoulos purchased the property at an almost collapsing state with the intention of restoring it to its original allure. From 1979 and for almost 30 years, he worked on the renovation project, until 2004, when the house was once again ready to be inhabited.
2021: Building future homes
We are currently working on expanding and diversifying the portfolio of LOTOS Properties. We are planning to launch the 129 Home in Athens, a privately owned modern state-of-art apartment designed by Iris Giannakopoulou.
